Wedding stationery invitations set the tone for your day long before guests arrive, and the matching menus and place cards tie the reception together. StationerySupplies.co.za is a free quote service. You fill in one form with your stationery list and dates, and we pass it to independent printers and stationery designers near you, who quote you directly. We do not design, print or deliver anything ourselves, and there is no fee or obligation to accept a quote. Tell us your guest numbers, style and wedding date.

What wedding stationery and invitations include

A full wedding stationery suite usually has two parts:

  • Before the day: save the dates, invitations, RSVP cards, information cards with directions or accommodation, and wedding invitation envelopes
  • On the day: ceremony programmes, menus, place cards, table numbers, seating charts and welcome signs
  • After the day: thank-you cards, often with a photo from the wedding

Couples often pick only the pieces they need. A matching design across the suite makes it look considered without ordering everything. Some couples also add personalised favour tags, order of service booklets for church ceremonies, or a welcome board at the venue entrance.

Wedding stationery timeline

Plan backwards from your date. Send save the dates six to twelve months ahead, especially for destination or long-weekend weddings. Post invitations about two to three months before, with an RSVP deadline four to six weeks ahead. Order on-the-day stationery once RSVPs are in and the seating plan is final, usually two to three weeks out. Allow time for design rounds, proofs and printing, and add extra if you want foil, letterpress or hand-finished touches. Remember that postal and courier delivery to rural or overseas guests can take longer than expected.

Digital or printed invitations?

Digital invitations sent by email or messaging app are fast and cheap, and make RSVP tracking easy. Printed invitations feel more personal and are often kept as a keepsake, and older relatives may prefer them. Many couples combine both: a digital save the date and a printed invitation, or printed invitations for family with a digital version for everyone else. Printers can usually supply a digital file of your design as well, so the look stays the same across both. Keep the printed version simple and put changing details, such as directions, on a wedding website.

Paper, finishes and wedding stationery prices

Wedding stationery is often printed on heavy card, around 300 to 400 gsm, in white, ivory or textured cotton. Finishes include foil, embossing, letterpress, vellum overlays, wax seals and ribbon. Price depends on design work, quantity, card, finishes and envelopes, so give your guest count and list every item. Ask whether 15% VAT, design changes and delivery are included, and whether a deposit is needed to start. Matching envelopes and address labels can be quoted together.

What to include in your request

  • Give your wedding date and guest numbers
  • List every item and quantity needed
  • Describe your style, colours and paper

Frequently asked questions

Does StationerySupplies.co.za design wedding invitations?
No. We are a free quote service and do not design, print or deliver stationery. Independent local printers and stationery designers receive your request and quote you directly.
How many invitations should I order?
Order one per household, not per guest, then add ten to fifteen percent for late additions, keepsakes and mistakes. Reprinting a small batch later usually costs much more per card.
How long does wedding stationery take to print?
Simple digitally printed invitations can be ready within about a week of approving the proof. Custom design, foil, letterpress and hand finishing can take several weeks, so start early, especially for spring and summer weddings.
Can I order just menus and place cards?
Yes. Many couples send digital invitations and only print on-the-day items. List exactly what you need with quantities, and printers will quote those pieces alone.
