Stationery suppliers by area

Find stationery, office supplies, printing and school stationery suppliers in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape and every other province.

Suppliers on our network deliver in all nine provinces, from the distribution parks of Gauteng to coastal cities and small farming towns. Choose your province or town to read about local buyers and delivery, and request a quote.

Gauteng

Gauteng is where most of South Africa's stationery is bought, and where much of it is stored. Corporate head offices in Sandton and Rosebank, national and provincial departments in Pretoria, thousands of schools under the Gauteng Department of Education and large campuses such as Wits, UJ and the University of Pretoria all order paper, toner, filing and printing in bulk. Distribution parks in Midrand, Isando and along the N3 through Ekurhuleni make next-day delivery normal across the metros. Expect queues in December and January while school packs are filled, and register on the CSD before quoting public buyers, whose tenders run on strict deadlines.

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga's buyers are split between two very different landscapes. On the Highveld, collieries, Eskom power stations and the Sasol complex at Secunda run offices and training centres that need printer consumables, printed forms, safety registers and boardroom supplies on contract. Below the escarpment, Mbombela holds the provincial legislature and government offices, plus schools, hospitals and lodges serving the Kruger tourism trade. Most stock travels by road from Johannesburg or Pretoria along the N4, so two to four working days is a fair lead time outside the larger towns. Many schools receive learner material through the provincial department, and municipal tenders require CSD registration and tax compliance.

North West

In North West the largest orders come from the platinum belt around Rustenburg and Brits, where mine offices, contractors and training centres use toner, printed forms, files and labels at a steady rate. Mahikeng holds the provincial government, while North-West University in Potchefstroom and the schools of Klerksdorp add strong seasonal demand. Rustenburg is roughly two hours from Johannesburg, so most suppliers deliver from Gauteng on weekly runs, and towns further west such as Vryburg and Lichtenburg rely on a handful of local stationers and courier freight. Departments and municipalities buy through the CSD and published tenders, and back-to-school packs are best ordered by November.

Limpopo

Limpopo's stationery buyers cover a vast area, from provincial offices and the University of Limpopo near Polokwane to the University of Venda in Thohoyandou and mining towns such as Lephalale, Mokopane and Phalaborwa. Thousands of rural schools make January the busiest month by far, and late deliveries are a real risk when the last stretch runs along gravel roads. Polokwane has its own wholesalers and print shops, but much bulk paper and toner still travels up the N1 from Gauteng, typically arriving in two to five working days. Public buyers advertise through the CSD and the eTender portal, and power cuts make backup for printers and copiers worth budgeting.

Northern Cape

The Northern Cape is the largest province by area and the smallest by population, and that shapes every stationery order. Kimberley holds the provincial departments, Sol Plaatje University and most of the bigger offices, while Upington, Kuruman, Springbok and the iron ore and manganese towns around Kathu buy in smaller but regular volumes. Bulk stock usually comes from Johannesburg or Cape Town, and remote sites can wait a week or more for courier freight, so ordering early matters. Small-town stationers often double as print and copy shops. Schools need packs sorted well before January, and government work runs through the CSD.

Free State

Bloemfontein is the Free State's supply centre and the country's judicial capital, home to the Supreme Court of Appeal, provincial departments, the University of the Free State and the Central University of Technology. Beyond the city, buyers include gold mining offices around Welkom, the petrochemical industry at Sasolburg, agricultural co-operatives and hospitals in Bethlehem and Kroonstad. Many orders are filled by Bloemfontein wholesalers, while larger volumes come down the N1 from Gauteng in one to three working days. Farming communities and small towns lean on local stationers for printing and school packs. Government tenders require CSD registration, and January school demand peaks sharply.

KwaZulu-Natal

KwaZulu-Natal buys stationery on a big scale, from corporate offices in Umhlanga and central Durban to provincial departments in Pietermaritzburg and the shipping, freight and clearing firms around the Port of Durban. UKZN, Durban University of Technology and Mangosuthu University of Technology add campus demand, and the province has one of the country's largest school populations, so the January rush is intense. Durban's own warehouses supply the coast and Midlands quickly, with Richards Bay, Newcastle and the rural north further out. Humid coastal air is hard on stored paper and card, and public buyers procure through the CSD.

Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape splits into two supply areas. Gqeberha and Kariega in Nelson Mandela Bay are served by local wholesalers and print shops, backed by the automotive plants, the port and Nelson Mandela University. East London and the provincial capital at Bhisho draw stock along the N2 and N6, while Makhanda, home to Rhodes University, and Mthatha, with Walter Sisulu University, sit further afield. The former Transkei has many small rural schools that are hard to reach, so early ordering for January is essential. Provincial and municipal purchases go through the CSD, and courier times to inland towns can stretch to several days.

Western Cape

In the Western Cape most stationery moves through Cape Town, where the city centre, Century City, Bellville and the Northern Suburbs hold the bulk of corporate and professional offices. The provincial government and Parliament add steady official demand, and UCT, Stellenbosch University and CPUT drive term-time orders for printing and course packs. Warehouses in areas such as Montague Gardens and Epping supply the metro quickly, while the Winelands, Overberg, West Coast and Garden Route rely on regional stationers and couriers. Schools start buying for January from October, and public buyers procure through the CSD alongside the province's own supplier database.
